Nate's thoughts:
It’s not always easy to leave the past where it is and try to forge forward. I guess I’m just kind of hitting the age where challenges such as this become more of a reality, without the distracted forgiveness of childhood or the tapering escape of college ending. Despite a pretty bumpy path, a person who was once my closest friend and I are trying to navigate a renewed friendship.

We’re back in the same area again after a long time of non-communication and are working to quell past frustrations and just focus on being good friends and have some fun. We’ve seen each other some with positive results, so on her birthday I took her to lunch. We had good laughs and good conversation, reinforcing the connection that makes us think rekindling friendship is worth it. Things are not perfect, but they don’t need to be. I think approaching friendship with a lack of pressure and expectation, simply a focus on goodness, happiness, and enjoyment of company, is creating special moments for both of us.
