Obviously with any tough issue, there's a requisite amount of thinking and theorizing that must take place to understand the potential solutions. Without paths to a solution, there's nothing to act on. However, if we sit around thinking about the PERFECT path, the one that may require the least effort, all we'll do is think. Unfortunately, we're not sure perfect solutions exist, so we feel strongly about DOING as much as we can everyday.
Don't get us wrong, talking is fun and important. BUT, doing is where you find out interesting things about yourself and others. Doing produces a feeling of accomplishment and purpose. Think back the best day you've had recently. What were you doing? Probably a lot.
John Wooden had some choice words to know whether you're doing or just talking. He said, "if you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes." Are you doing? Are you making mistakes? Have you learned about yourself lately and felt a sense of accomplishment. We hope as a member of the Bolder team, you can say yes to these questions. Thank you for being a part of a team of doers. We'd love your thoughts.
Absolutely outstanding post! I've always believe that ideas are somewhat overrated; they mean absolutely nothing without the execution. Sure, it's fun and exciting to talk about expansive solutions to big problems. And it's natural to go for this home run approach, but it's often not an approach that is actionable (or at least not willing to be acted upon by the thinkers). I believe in approaching big problems by hustling out singles and doubles. Like saving the environment by giving something a new life. Or fighting global hunger with an energy bar. And with that, I'll stop talking.
