A few weeks ago, we shared a short story about a man who saved stranded starfish by throwing them back into the sea. This short, inspiring TED talk by Mark Bezos is a beautiful real-life example of a "star thrower". Mark shares how a tiny act of heroism - saving a pair of shoes from a fire - made a lasting impact on someone's life in ways even he couldn't anticipate.

The video is only 4 minutes, and it's well worth your time. It might even make your Friday (it sure made ours). The lesson is simple, but for some reason we always need reminding: Everything we do matters, even and perhaps especially when we feel like it doesn't.
You can't always save the house from burning (and even if you do, there will always be another house burning somewhere else). At the very least, you can grab a pair of shoes for someone on your way out the door.
