Of all the things we take for granted in modern life, shoes are so basic and so fundamental that we almost forget they're even there (until it's time to buy a new pair, of course). But shoes are a luxury in many parts of the world, and children often grow up barefoot, making it harder for them to attend school and exposing them to preventable diseases. TOMS Shoes is working to change that, and they're asking you to help.
TOMS is already at the top of our "Companies We Think Are Awesome" list (yep, that's its official name). Their One for One program has provided shoes to countless children in need, but they're not content to do all the hard work themselves and just let us buy shoes from the sidelines. On April 5th, TOMS is asking all of us to put our money where our feet are and spend one day without shoes. The goal is to raise awareness, but we think a lot of bold action will come of it, too. Watch this video to get inspired. Then sign up to participate.
Buying a pair of shoes is easy, but hundreds of thousands of people around the world going barefoot for a day to raise awareness? That's Bolder. It's about businesses and customers acting together to raise awareness, take positive action and build a better future. And that's why we love TOMS. Sure, they make a nice pair of shoes and are all about doing good, but it even goes deeper than that. At the end of the day, TOMS is challenging us not just to shop better, but to act better (dare we say... Bolder?).
We're rising to the challenge as a team, and we hope you will, too. We'll see you... barefoot, on April 5th!
