Bolder Takes Recess For A Month

Robin goes hunting for daffodils
KEEN's running a recess challenge!
Come again?
Recess.
You mean playtime?
Yep.
Recess…ahhh, right.  When we were required to play every day.
Do you remember when that was?
Kindergarten? 4th grade?

Unfortunately, the above dialogue is the sad truth.  When KEEN launched their 'recess' challenge, the Bolder team barely remembered what that word meant!  Let alone the types of activities that define recess.  Hopscotch, duck duck goose, freeze tag, kite flying, pogo sticking, climbing, hanging upside down.  All of those activities came to mind, but strangely, all are completely absent from our lives today.

What has changed?
It seems, a strange thing has occurred.  We've grown up.

Think about this.  We were once required to play everyday and didn't appreciate it.  Now we yearn to play every day, but find it nearly impossible to do so.  Ironic, huh?  Because of this, we decided to flip the page back to kindergarten.  Instead of just one day of recess, we are challenging ourselves to take recess every day for the next month!

The goal: figure out how recess changes our days and our lives.  We're compiling pictures and ideas from our Bolder 'recesses' as we speak, and we will do a follow up post on April 25th (when the Keen challenge ends).   You can keep up with our Bolder recesses in our photo album here.   Please please please, use the comments section below to send us recess ideas you'd like us to do, and we will make them happen.

Does playing have to end now that we're adults? No way!  We just need a little inspiration.  See you back here on April 25th!
